UGANDA GORILLA PERMIT COSTS INCREASE FOR 2020-23

On August 8th 2019, Uganda Wildlife Authority revised the prices of the gorilla permits and other activity fees. New products and fines have been introduced

The director of Tourism at UWA Mr. Stephen Masaba, made a noteworthy announcement defining several changes in tariffs as below; 

  • Gorilla permits from USD 600 to USD 700 per permit for the Foreign Non-Residents.
  • USD 500 to USD 600 for Foreign Residents of Uganda, East African Citizens; the price has remained UGX 250,000 for East Africans.
  • Other changes add a huge decrease in professional fees for the filming of gorillas from USD 4,000 right down to 30% of gorilla permit fees.
  • Gorilla habituation experience remains unchanged at USD 1,500 per permit.
  • Chimpanzee Permit prices also increased from US$150 to US$200 in Kibale Forest.
  • Chimpanzee Habituation experience (CHEBX) has also been increased from USD 200 to USD 250.
  • Golden monkeys the price has been increased from USD 90 to USD 100.

 The new tariff plan will be effective from 1st July 2020 applicable for the years 2020/21 – 2022/23.
